Sit with that question just a minute; did you immediately dismiss it as not being important? I am sure some of my more materialistic readers might have said a boat or a car, but I think it boils down to one thing, most of us desire to be loved. So how do we solve the problem of not feeling worthy of love itself. Imagination and dreaming are two of the best elixirs in learning how to love you. … [Read more...]
Apology
I want to apologize to everyone who reads my blogs. I haven’t had much time to write lately because of a project that I have been working on in Fort Collins, CO. Not many people realize how much time it takes to write a blog, and I was writing 5 to 6 per week. I was roughly spending 20 hours a week doing nothing but writing blogs. Over the past month I have needed that time to focus on opening a … [Read more...]
I AM SO STUPID
Self criticism is one of the most harmful things that come from living with someone who is abusive (verbally, physically or sexually). As children our minds are so easily transformed by our experiences. If your mother or father were constantly calling you a loser, in your mind over time you become their creation (a loser). I see it time and time again with the men I counsel. The words that you … [Read more...]
Watch Where You Point Your Perception
All of us have been hurt when someone else decided to share their perception of us. When I hear someone say, “Well, that’s my perception”, I know they haven’t taken the time to get enough information to make a judgment call. Let me say this loud and clear, YOUR PERCEPTION MEANS NOTHING! Perceptions will get you in more trouble than anything else. Perception leads to false opinion, false … [Read more...]
Eyes of the Heart
Someone asked me the other day what does Eyes of the Heart mean to you? I think they were probably referring to the ministry itself, but that wasn’t the answer they got. I decided to explain to everyone that reads this blog why I do what I do, and what Eyes of the Heart means to me. Eyes of the Heart is not a business, but we need donations to survive. Eyes of the Heart is not just a … [Read more...]
Deja Vu
The alarm went off this morning at 6:00 a.m., and I could see a gray figure moving towards our bedroom door through the dim light filtering through the vertical shades of our picture frame window. It was Sandra getting up to make our morning coffee. Immediately, I felt this deep sense of déjà vu; the exact thing happened yesterday I said to myself. I was reminded of a scene in one of my favorite … [Read more...]
Recognized Perfection?
What I love most about Jesus is his humanity; men love camp fires. Now I know these two sentences don’t seem to relate to each other, but they do. Jesus was referred to as a “ gluttonous man, and a wine bibber” in the book of Luke chapter seven. Jesus is hanging out with fishermen, tax collectors, prostitutes and every low life dreg known to inhabit society during his day. His society saw … [Read more...]
Who are you God?
I was driving to work this morning and my thoughts took me to a question about whom or what I thought God was when I was a young boy. I immediately conjured this image in my head of an old man with a long flowing beard, much like my memories of Santa Claus or maybe the character Gandalf in the movie Lord of the Rings. I can remember feeling that God never really smiled when I did something right, … [Read more...]
Addicted to Chaos
One of the scariest and most chaotic movies I have seen in a while is the movie the Dark Knight. If you haven’t seen the movie it is the last Batman movie starring Heath Ledger (R.I.P.) as the Joker. He is the personification of evil, and in one of the scenes late in the movie when he is in the hospital room explaining to Harvey Dent (Two-Faced) that he is sorry for killing his girlfriend, comes … [Read more...]
